Single arm, prospective trial
50 consecutive patients undergoing diagnostic invasive catheterization at the University of Minnesota.
Either diagnostic coronary angiography or right heart catheterization.
>18 years of age
Planned interventional procedure
Consent obtained for both patient and physician.
Vascular access either right or left internal jugular for right heart catheterization or right or left radial / ulnar for coronary angiography.
AR headset used as a primary monitor for guiding the procedure with standard display immediately available in case of headset failure.
It is the only mixed reality system that has been shown to be safe and feasible in a clinical trial. None of the fifty patients had any peri-procedure or post-procedure complications.
Our patented mixed reality system showed reduced procedure times as well as reduced contrast use when compared to standard display guided procedures (p < 0.001).
